SICILY RESIDENCY 2018:

Whilst at the residency Officina Stamperia Del Notaio in  the coastal mountain village of Tusa, Sicily, I examined the themes of love, loss, nature and belonging through poetry and explored the landscape of Sicily in the work and wrote on themes  implicit in this land as well as comparing and contrasting Sicilian and Irish mythology through poetic form. I also spent time composing poems with melody and polyrhythms using a loop pedal and the kalimba (an African musical instrument consisting of a wooden board with attached staggered metal tines, played by holding the instrument in the hands and plucking the tines with the thumbs).
